Tetra Pak has announced the launch of the new OptiSize volume option and Eco Flexo photographic printing, in an attempt to drive value for its Tetra Fino Aseptic packaging range. The combination is expected to derive improved efficiency to manufacturers who look for cost effective packaging solutions.

The company claims, with the new OptiSize customers can produce cartons tailored precisely to 70ml and 220ml portions with more size options to follow and reduce packaging materials waste simultaneously, while the Eco Flexo printing process provides opportunities for product differentiation and brand impact.

Tetra Pak product director Hemant Krashak said the Tetra Fino Aspetic package enables producers to deliver safe, nutritious beverages to consumers looking for value as well as quality.

"With today's announcement of OptiSize and Eco Flexo, producers can drive even greater efficiency and value while providing stand out branding which will have an impact on store shelves," Krashak added.

Customers traditionally under-filled 250ml and 100ml Tetra Fino Aseptic packages and are now able to select carton sizes to fit 220ml and 70ml portions precisely, with OptiSize. The kit enables milk and beverage producers to change the tube diameter and the jaw length of the Tetra Pak A1 filling machine and allows cartons to be filled instead of under filling.

An OptiSize-equipped Tetra Pak A1 filling machine producing hourly packages up to 13,000 220ml, produces 8.5% more packs per hour compared to the same machine producing under-filled 250ml cartons, the company said.

Eco Flexo printing technology used for Tetra Fino packs enables printing photographicimages onto uncoated paperboard packaging, and the use of various paper, inks, screen ruling, anilox and dot gain interactions reduces mottling effects, while increasing print quality.

Currently, the technology is being launched across Tetra Pak's converting factories in China, Pakistan and Russia and is planned for early 2013 in India with Brazil to follow.
